A new fairytale book has been released. However this one has a bit of a twist. Instead of a handsome prince saving the “damsel-in-distress” princess and the pair living happily ever after, it features two gay princes as they set out to rescue a lesbian princess.

The Princes and the Treasure is written by American author Jeffery Miles. The gay professor from the University of the Pacific says he was motivated to write the book after seeing a lack of LGBT issues being represented in traditional fairytales.

The book even features a wedding between the princes

Speaking to The Advocate about the book Miles mentioned “I recalled fondly that I had crushes on the handsome princes, who looked so dashing and strong. But then I frowned as I remembered how sad I felt as a child when I realized that the handsome prince only fell in love with the beautiful princess.”

Kids see that the story is about two people who fall in love and get married. All of the kids who have read the story don’t find it unusual that the two characters who get married happen to be two men.

” I have already written a second adventure for Earnest and Gallant, titled The Princes and The Dragon. The story after that one is about the two of them starting a family and raising two twins, a boy and a girl. I also want children to see that two men or two women can create a warm and loving family together. ”

The book is being internationally released after finding success in the United States.
